If Not Now
This piece was made for the Newlyn Society of Artists exhibition 'Engage' at Tremenheere Sculpture Gardens in April 2023. The brief was for members to respond the invocation 'Engage' in what ever way worked for them. The show was part of bicentenary celebrations across the country dedicated to the Cornish philanthropist John Passmore Edwards. He promoted education and accessibility to the arts for those who could not otherwise afford it.
The title of this piece is 'If Not Now', suggests the question...'When?' Viewers responded in different ways, but for me, it was about the consequence of inaction in the face of the climate emergency and threat of extinction for so many species.
The tiny sculls and bones in the piece came from dissecting owl pellets that I had collected. Dimensions: 60 x 20cm (framed)
