Land drawings
These drawings are made on or with the land.
'Lost Ground' is made from top soil washed away from a field during a 'named storm'. The sight of topsoil leached from the fields is now common. Climate change and some aspects of modern farming practice have damaged habitats and undermined the structure of the soil.
'Lost Ground' is currently in LONGYA - EXPLORING AN UNCOMMON PLACE - the Newlyn Society of Artists spring exhibtion at Tremenheere Sculpture Gardens, Penzance.
'Longya' is Cornish for belong. ‘Lost Ground’ is about loss of territory, about elements of the natural environment displaced from where it belongs.
